Righteous Gentiles
Some non-Jews risked their lives to help hide and save Jewish people. They are called Righteous Gentiles. At the Yad Vashem Museum (the Holocaust Museum) in Jerusalem, over 11,000 Righteous Gentiles are honored. There are almost 5,000 Polish Righteous Gentiles. Awarded the Medal of the Righteous Among the Nations of the World, each has a tree planted in their name in the Avenue of the Righteous on the Mount of Remembrance in Jerusalem, Israel. They were amazing people and without them so many more Jews would have died. Righteous Gentiles hid Jews in different ways like in a hole or acted like they were thier slaves all these things are hard work because if their real identidy got out they would have died as well as the Jew(s) they're hidding. It is hard work hiding a person but at the end it all pays of knowing that you have saved a person's life.
If you are hiding someone you have to provide food wich is very hard in war time because there is always a huge shortage of food. The Rightgeous Gentiles had to cut down on their small amount of food to make some way for the person(s) they were protecting. The food was a hard part of the war because it wasn't good quality,no one liked it and it could make you very sick.
Examples of Righteous Gentiles are Chuine Sugihara, Nicholaus Whintan and Oscar Shindler.
We have stories on other Righteous Gentiles in the headings. All these people have incredible stories.
